The magazine is back and it looks WONDERFUL. We had an amazing turn out at this year's gallery and 99% of the artwork there! Thanks to Debbie for her year spent running this crazy cult of Sanskrites, and CONGRATS to Melanie for her new position as Editor In Chief! We're very excited for this new year and new direction.
Speaking of next year, we are currently accepting submissions for the 2009 edition, and all of the guidelines and info can be found on this site. The deadline will be November 7th, 2008 at 5pm, so be sure to get things in order in time!

So it's been a while since we've updated you folks on the good old magazine. Well, we worked our fingers to the bone and bid adeiu to the magazine files on March 3rd. We have received a proof, sent it back with corrections, and are slated to receive the finished product back by the first week in April. How exciting!
Until then...

It's ALMOST deadline time guys, so make sure you get your entries in ASAP! We are eagerly awaiting the rush that generally happens the week of the deadline, but it's always nice to see some friendly faces before it gets that close.
Don't be afraid! We don't bite. Always.

So it's a new year at Sanskrit Literary-Arts Magazine, and we've got some fresh faces as well as some old favorites, and we are ready to make another award winning magazine to showcase your work!
The submission deadline is Friday, November 2nd 2007, so please make sure that you have given us your submissions by then if you wish to have a chance for this years magazine.
We'd also like to say CONGRATS! to Debbie Archer, this years beautiful raven haired Editor in chief. She's on a roll and taking all of us with her.
Stay tuned to this space for updates and happenings with us in Sanskrit!

The magazine is HERE! We had the gallery opening on Monday and we'd love to thank everyone that came out. The magazine should be out all over campus for free in the next week or so (we have classes and we have to wheel these things around distributing them...crazy!) and if you are not on the UNCC campus, you can send us a check for $10 and we'll ship one to you! Hopefully in a day or two I'll have a PDF preview of the magazine on the site so that you can take a peak at what you are about to purchase.
Once again, thanks so much to everyone who helped out this year!

The magazine should be back in our hands by next week, and then, the week after that is the annual gallery opening! So on April 9th at 5pm, we will be in the Cone Center Main Gallery with all of the art from the magazine, refreshments, a poetry reading, and the premire of the magazine! The gallery will be up from April 6th - 27th though, so if you can't make it April 9th, be sure to try and stop by before it comes down. After the 9th, magazines will be availble for free on campus, and $10 otherwise. I will work on putting up a PDF preview for the site when we get them back.

The time is almost here! Tomorrow is officially when we say adios to the magazine and wish it luck in its time spent with the printer. Things are looking spectacular, thanks to an awesome staff and lots of crazy dedication. We've consumed lots of pizza and read and nudged and circled and...we aren't dead. It's quite impressive if I do say so myself. Luckily, Spring Break is next week and we'll all get a much needed and deserved week long rest, though I'm sure we'll be biting our nails in anticipation for the return of the finished product, which should be April 2nd.
The official Sanskrit gallery will be up from April 6th-27th, but we'll give you more details on that when we have them.
Also, check out the old production night photos from 2005. The links are on the
In Action page.

Happy 2007! It's a brand new semester and work here at Sanskrit is off to a roaring good start. We are compiling scores and will know what has made its way into the magazine soon, then the ever exciting process of design and layout will be underway. I feel very confident that this years magazine is going to be wonderful and I hope that you all feel that way too. I'm even thinking of possibly putting up a sample PDF of the magazine when it arrives back from the printers so if you are not a student, you can peruse a few pages and possibly order one for yourself. Until then, keep coming back. I plan on getting some pictures of us working on the magazine and all of the gallery information will be posted here as well.
Don't forget that we are also very welcome to volunteers for copyediting!
E-mail us if you are interested.

The semester is drawing to a close and we are BUSY here at Sanskrit. We have all of our art and lit jurors lined up and we're working on getting their packets and CDs to them for judging over winter break. Hopefully when we return in January, we'll be ready to start copyediting and designing until we can't copyedit and design anymore. If you would be interested in helping out with the copyediting process, please
drop us a line. We'd love to have volunteers to help make this publication as error free as possible.
Good luck with exams in the coming weeks!

We are looking for
3 more art savvy individuals to help judge the art submissions for this year. We ask that you live in or around the Charlotte area, and are NOT an employee of the UNCC Art Department. If you fit the criteria and can spend a few hours (at the most) in the conference room of Student Media one day in early December, or you know someone whom fits this description, please contact us! If you have any questions, also feel free to get in touch. Thanks!

We need your artwork! The deadline is fast approaching, so please contact us if you are interested in submitting art. We cannot wait to see what everyone is capable of producing. We've started getting the juries together, so please help us by getting your submissions in sooner rather than later.

The site has had a major facelift! The staff page has also been updated, and if you are on Facebook, you can click on our pictures to see our own pages.
We are still looking for submissions for this year's magazine so send your work in! Especially art! If you want to help spread the word, look on the submissions page for a flyer that you can print out and plaster and hand out around your town/campus.

It's a brand new year here at Sanskrit and we couldn't be more excited. There are some big plans for the magazine (and this site) in the works for this year. The guidelines have been updated and I am working on updating the staff page. Keep checking back for further updates.

Hello! In case you were not able to come out to the gallery last Wednesday, you should all know that the reading went beautifully and the turn-out was more than amazing. The gallery will remain up until the 30th of this month, so if you haven't already, you should stop in and sign the guestbook. We are anxiously awaiting reading all of the comments everyone has left for us. Photos from the night have been uploaded onto the photos page.
Be on the lookout for fliers concerning submissions around campus, hopefully by next week. And don't forget that we'll be accepting submissions over the summer as well, so let's get things rolling for an all new year (and edition!) of Sanskrit!

Thursday March 23rd 2006
All is well in the world of Sanskrit. We are patiently awaiting the arrival of all of the artwork so that we can have an amazing gallery. Yes, indeed, the opening reception (free food!) will be on Wednesday, April 12th from 5 to 7pm in the main Cone Center gallery on the third floor. We will also be having a Reader's Theater which will include three of us lovely staffers reading the poetry and select stories from this years magazine. Everyone should at least stop by and say hello. Be on the lookout for our gorgeous fliers announcing the date soon!

Sanskrit has officially been sent to the printers. We expect it back in our hands, completed and looking stunning, by April 3rd. The gallery will then be April 10th - 30th and the opening reception is hopefully going to be on the 12th. We will keep you posted with any updates and/or changes!

The site has been updated!
Life in Sanskrit has been HECTIC! It's production time so we have been eating, sleeping, and breathing artwork, literature, and design. Hopefully it will turn out to be one hell of a magazine, which I'm sure it will. I hold lots of faith in this team. The magazine goes to print in a couple weeks, so maybe once things are a little less crazy in our lives, the things that are missing from the site will get the attention they deserve. Keep checkiing back here for magazine news and updates.

Per the request of many Sanskrit readers and contributors, we have created this website to answer all of your burning questions regarding our publication. This will also be the place to find out news or any announcements we may have throughout the year. Hopefully this will be a big help for many of you that have sent us emails asking about our site.
Thank you,
The Sanskrites
